OUR BEGINNING
Established in 2010 when three men dreamt a big dream about good business and good coffee. Legacy has been the company vision from the start. We are determined to instil a legacy in everything we do, from sourcing all the way through to that perfect sip of coffee.
OUR HISTORY
The moment eventually arrived when we tracked down what may have been the first Diedrich roaster in South Africa. Not only did we convince the long-time owner to sell it to them, but along the way, we also managed to get him to intensively train us on how to get the best out of the machine.
Armed with this inherited wisdom and precision tool, we set about constructing our business, roasting for our own customers right away but also doing a large amount of contract roasting that helped them hone their skills quickly. Growing our team slowly and fast forwarding 10 years, Legado has helped to transform the Cape Winelands coffee landscape and made an indelible mark on the specialty coffee scene of South Africa as a whole.

Our precise attention to detail and dream for the pursuit of the perfect cup epitomises the way we operate. We are a focused, meticulous and quality driven team. We take our time to prepare well for whatever we are planning to do, but when it's time to move, we move quickly.
There's an essence of professionalism that pervades our approach in everything from administration to the aesthetics of the brand we have built. Much to the delight our customers' taste buds, this also translates directly into the cups of coffee brewed from our carefully selected coffee beans.
Legado's selection of coffees is always varied & delicious - we make a point of ensuring we can offer customers a really diverse set of origins and flavours. Our roast style honours the natural characteristics of the coffees we source, tending towards the lighter side but always well developed.
LEAVING A LEGACY
Legado is actually the Portuguese word for legacy, and the name was selected with great care. It is in fact our goal - to honour the legacy of the other parts of the coffee industry they work with, with special focus on the farmers, and to help create a legacy of speciality coffee in their corner of the country and beyond.

The Woodmill Lifestyle Centre - Come see where the magic happens! The coffee roaster, office and small coffee bar is where Legado Head Office is located. Very much a working office so please make an appointment should you wish to come say hi.
Fabric Centre - Located in Somerset West inside the well known Fabric Centre. Come and grab a coffee while you shop for fabric, material and upholstery.
